Definirely aqueous solution.

HCl is a gas at room temperature, but it readily dissolves in water up to about 40% by weight HCl. That gives you a solution about 12.4 molar, with a pH of -1.1. Beyond that, HCl gas starts coming off, and you have fuming hydrochloric.

HCl itself (the gas, not the gas in water called hydrochloric acid) is a solid below -114.2 degrees C, a liquid from there to -85.1 degrees C, and a gas from there on up.

Hydrochloric acid is BOTH a liquid AND an aqueous solution. All aqueous solutions are liquid, but not all liquids are aqueous solutions. An aqueous solution is just a solution in which water is the solvent, or the thing that dissolves the substance that's being dissolved.

Both obviously! Hydrochloric acid , an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride, is, at normal temperature, a liquid.

If it is pure 100% HCl, it is a liquid solution. If it is diluted at all with water, it becomes both an aqueous and a liquid solution. Most HCl would be considered aqueous, as it readily absorbs moisture from the air. Only greatly purified HCl would be non-aqueous. Liquid refers to the state of matter (solid/liquid/gas); Aqueous refers to the presence of water (H2O).

HCl as a gas has an uncommon capability to dissolve in water. Since the gaseous form is the state of HCl in normal conditions, it's got to be an aqueous solution. I doubt it would be worth the trouble manufacturing pressure containers for gaseous HCl as we do for propane or butane.
