I want t do MS in Computer Science in the US for which I want to write the GRE. However the ETS website www.ets.org lists two types of GRE exams: a general purpose GRE and subject specific GRE exams in 8 subjects. For getting admission into MS in Computer Science do I have to write the general GRE test or the Computer Science GRE test?

Go to the web sites for the universities that interest you. Find the section on the graduate program that you want. Read the part that tells you about the application process.

It will tell you what tests scores they want.

For almost any MS, you must take the general exam.

Look on the website of the school you wish to attend to see if they also require the subject exam.

No one is going to ask for the subject exam alone; if they want the subject exam, you have to take both.
