I'll be interested in seeing what people answer. I imagine it would be very diverse set of answers. There are so many fantastic movies that have been made over the last 100 years of films.

For me, I guess I'm just a purest. I still see Gone With the Wind as the classic that all other classics compare too. I feel like there are dozens of great moves and dozens of classic great movies. But Gone With the Wind is all alone in a class by itself as the master of great classic films.

Everything was right about that movie. The cast, the writing, the scenery, directing, producing . . . it's flawless!!

By juggling numbers and inflation rates, it is still like number one or two as the box office champ. For a movie that is what? sixty seven years old, that's a big record to hold onto. The storyline and performances hold up well also. It's timeless and ageless.

I have to agree with Pat. You cant find better films than the original Star Wars trilogy. For me Empire Strikes back is the best of the three.

The Wizard of Oz - it is a classic story

Titanic - You have to admit that it was a somewhat good movie

But my personal favorites are Gladiator, Elizabeth, and Saving Private Ryan.
