I'm so sorry you're sick, and I'm so glad you're taking your pregnancy so seriously this early. Talk to your OB/GYN and see if you have any options for symptom relief.
I would also recommend lots of hot tea with lemon and honey. The honey helps soothe your dry throat, and the lemon helps keep your throat clear. Also, try eating some soda crackers (saltines or oyster crackers). They are very gentle on the tummy. Chicken soup is also comforting, and tends to stay down, very nutritious and calming. For the hot and cold body temps, try a nice long shower. Set the water temp so it's comfortable, and then just hang out there for 20 minutes or so. The warm water will help your body regulate your temp, and the humidity will help clear your sinuses (close the bathroom door, so the water vapor stays in the bathroom).
Then see if you can grab a nap. Sleep is the best remedy. If you can clear your head in the shower, lie down and relax for a while.
You poor dear. I hope you find relief. Good luck.

Not really an answer---
I'm 8 weeks pregnant in the exact same predicament. This is just an empathy posting. I am miserable too. I am doing that gagging from coughing thing as well. Ugh.
Best wishes for you. I don't want to take any medication because I am so nervous for the baby (i have had two miscarriages) so I am extra careful.
I am just doing tea, soup, hot/cold compresses on my head, and sleeping.

You can safely take Robatussin DM. Only the DM formula. You can also take Tylenol Cold & Flu. Try Vick's Vapor Rub to clear up your nose and get lots of rest. The first few months are the worst, but it'll be well worth it, when the baby gets here. Hope you feel better and best of luck.

Hot tea with honey is what I would drink all through the day. Ask your Dr or pharmacist what is safe for you to take. Lots of clear liquids and lots of rest. I hope you feel better soon!

hey hun, first off congrats on the new baby! i too am pregnant, i am 36 weeks. at the begining of my pregnancy my midwife gave me a sheet of natural things that you can do if you get sick. so i will give it to you.
natural remedies for use in pregnancy
cold remedies-
1 go to bed and rest as much as possible
2 avoid milk and cheese, which are mucus producing
3 do not take aspirin. tylenol may be taken if needed
4 drink plenty of fluids especially water, fruit juices and herbal teas
5 take 250 mg vitamin C every 4 hours for a maximum of 2000 mg per day. (large doses of vitamin C taken in the first trimester have been associated with increased incidence of miscarriage)
Herbal teas you can make
Garlic and lemon tea: mince one clove of fresh garlic. add the juice of 1/4 small lemon. put one teaspoon of mint or peppermint in the cup and pour in boiling water. stir and drink
hot cider vinegar and honey tea: place 2 tablespoons each cider vinegar and honey in a cup and cover with boiling water. stir and drink
sage, garlic and honey tea: pour 6 cups boiling water over 2 heaping tablespoons of sage leaves, 2 finely chopped cloves of garlic, juice of 1/2 lemon with pulp, and honey to taste. Steep for 5 minutes.
cough-
honey and lemon juice: mix one tablespoon of honey with the juice of 1/2 lemon. sip a teaspoon every hour and after a coughing spell.
sore throats-
warm salt water gargles: add 1/4 teaspoon salt to 1/4 cup warm water and gargle with it.
morning sickness-
1 vitamin B complex 10-20 mg 1-3 times daily
2 raspberry leaf tea
3 ginger tea: boil 4 cups water and add 2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger. simmer 20 minuites.
i hope i helped. these all helped me alot as well

Actually, try some non-drowsy sudafed. It is safe to take while pregnant. I also find that putting a couple of Altoids in my mouth opens my nose.

Try hot tea with honey for your cough. Also call you OB GYN and ask their advice.

A humidifier in your bedroom at night is helpful. Also, using a saline nasal spray really helps me. Just make sure you are using one that is only saline (Ocean is a good one). Hope you feel better!
Also, please don't take a hot bath. You don't want to raise your core body temperature and "cook" your baby.
