the first world is US, europe and the like
the second world is Russia and the like
the third world is all the rest
though its all nonesense really ~ we all bleed the same blood and inhabit the same planet

Actually, the term 3rd world country is now politically incorrect.
The world is now classified by developed and developing countries, which was most likely decided to be taken in place for the exact reasons you have come up with.

I'm not sure, though I think that term is no longer used, more commonly they are referred to as developing nations.
