*Sigh*

"Nitro tanks" also known as compressed air tanks or HPA, do NOT add "power" to the shots. Its simply a seperate air source, more consistent, and cleaner for the guns. All high end guns require HPA because CO2 is liquid in the bottle, and if that gets into the pneumatics... No good.

Paintball is a great sport. I love it. I play every weekend and getting shot doesn't bother me much anymore. I'm more mad at myself for allowing myself to get shot, rather than the pain of getting hit. As people have said, wear layers. A t-shirt, longsleeve t, and a hoody will suffice. Jeans are enough. You don't need camo, its unecessary for one time players. They supply you with a mask and that is all you need. Always keep the mask on when you're on the field, and listen to the rules when they are told to you. Paintball is one of the safest sports, safer than cheerleading and bowling. (I did a paper for english once lol).

Biggest part is to not be nervous. Its an absolute blast after your nerves are settled. I played once and got hooked. I've been playing for 5 years now and started tournaments 2 years ago. Just don't worry about getting shot. There's no need. 10 million people play the sport in the US alone, just ask them. =)

Think of it like this. You only get shot if you don't shoot them first. So go on the offensive and win the games.

But please don't be the people that sit in the back of the field waiting for the other team. As a player, and a ref, it gets very tiresome and boring.

Again, just have fun with it!

PS. I was surprised that most of the responses were from girls. I've only met one girl that plays regularly and I've been all across the state with the sport.

Wear camo and if your a beginner wear atleast 2 layers. Close range hits hurt, and tense areas hurt when they are hit. DOnt go off alone. Have a plan and take a partner with you. Paintball is a game of stratagey. Once you play you will got the feel of it and become better. Yes the back of your head is exposed, wear a hat or a doo rag. Basically dont get into a situation where you can get hit in the back or from close range. Get a feel for your gun and its accuracy. Dont waste shots, they will probably give away your hiding spot and cause you to get out.

When I went paintballing, I did get some welts, it feels kinda like a beesting when they hit you. Nothing horrible. Wear long sleeves, the more clothing or fabric you have the less likely it will be that you get any welts or bruises. Wear long pants, preferably something with thrick material. I wore gloves to cover my hands in case they got hit, but that did not seem to be a problem.

as for the head exposed, it varies from place to place. depending on the type of helmet they provide you. Also, your head shoud not be a problem, they will tell you the rules and one of the major rules in not hitting the face or head, so if everyone follows the rules, you should be just fine. habe fun!!!

It does hurt but not that much. if you have ever been snapped with a towel that is like 10 times worse then getting shot with a paintball gun unless it is really really close. you are going to a Field which means that you will have referees and they will make everyone crono their guns so all the guns will be turned down making them shoot at a slower speed and making the shot hurt less. the trick is not to think about it to much kinda like getting a shot at the doctors. if you just go out and have fun when you do get shot it wont bother you. and if you are still that worried about it just wear to sweet shirts and that will help.

PS no the back of your head isn't covered by your mask so i wouldn't recommend running away

Lucky!!!

Paintball is a lot of fun...I'd wear something that you could run around in. Long sleeves and pants would be good too. You will most likely get bruises if it actually hits you dead on and doesn't break. But when they break, they normally don't hurt. It might hurt for a little bit, but its the kind of hurt that isn't bad. Especially since you will be having fun, it really won't matter that much.

Yes, the back of the head is exposed, but I've never been hit there.

Yes I would have to say they do. My sons play and they come home with some pretty nasty welts. Use any and all equiptment you can get your hands on. Layer clothes as this adds cushion between you and the paintballs. Also best not to play with people who are using nitro filled tanks. This adds power to the ball, in which case it will hurt more. Go for it tho it is a blast! It also gets rid of any pent-up anger.

Well, it all depends how close your opponent gets to you. The whole back of the head thing isn't bad, just wear a hat backwards and its cool. I've been playing for a long time now and started when i was like... 11 so... It doesn't hurt that bad. Wear something you don't mind getting dirty in and wear sort of thick clothing since its your first time. You'll love it

Well, normally, it doesn't hurt that bad, I mean you'll bruise, but it's all in fun. But please, be very very careful. My husband and I have a close friend who lost his eye in a paintballing accident and it took him a few years to get his life back to normal. It seems like common sense, but he lifted his mask for a second to wipe it off and his own gun disengaged and he actually almost died because it shot so far back into his head at such a fast rate. Before you go all out, it'd be nice to practice if you know someone with their own gun so you know how everything will work. That will prepare you some, have fun :)
