The tailpipe is still on the backbox but now it is loose and it is louder. The tailpipe did not break off. I just backed into the curb so it got pushed in a little. What can I do to fix this without buying a whole new set-up?

Wrap a hanger around it and secure it to the nearest chasis bracket.

There isn't much you can do. You have damaged the integrity of the pipe and muffler. Best take it to a muffler shop and ask for repair. Perhaps the damage isn't so bad that it can't be repaired. If it must be replaced, there are some inexpensive options available to you.

have a mechanic look at it, i did the same general thing and i thought i just needed to replace my tail pipe, ended up that i pushed the entire exhaust system into my engine and it all needed to be replaced. the exhaust should be parrallel to the ground, so when you hit something going backwards, it should push in, and not neccessarilly push upward or downward enough to knock it loose, that would take a lottt of force... unless you hit a wall shaped like /|
