I'm so glad you asked, I've had this idea for a while now and you are the first person that's bothered asking.
You see, the whole point is this: Maria is a happy person who loves life! That is not a problem! It's the others that have the problem, they can't see that she is purely and simply happy with life. She is not causing anyone any problems, not giving anyone grief. She whistles on her way to Mass - because she is so happy that she's going there! etc (the other nuns should really be overjoyed about going to Mass too, after all it is a great celebration)
As for catching a cloud and pinning it down, well, that's another issue. Literally speaking it would be quite difficult, but if they mean they want to squash all her exuberance out of her and make her miserable instead of happy, well .... leave her alone, sisters!
