I was convinced that I was having a boy......everyone else but my fiance was too. My feeling was wrong, I had a girl. Oh well! Anyways, most generally the person doing the ultrasound, will point out everything you need to know, as in length, heart rate, organs, etc. If they don't point out anything other than the sex, ask.

There aren't really any specific questions you need to ask just whatever comes to mind while you are seeing the scan. Personally I always ask if the head size is average or above average because my husbands side of the family has unusually large headed babies .. lol. My first child head size was in the 90 percentile.
I am now pregnant with my third child and my feeling about the sex of my child has been correct with all 3. Enjoy the scan it's a lot of fun to see the little one

I am only 10 weeks but congratulations on your pregnancy. I can't wait until my 20 week scan, I really want to find out the sex of my baby, and that is when you can ask.
Don't be afraid to ask too many questions, I have heard that the 20week scan shows so much detail, and the sonographer really doesn't mind you asking!
I have a feeling my baby is a girl, dont know why, but I can feel it, I am 100%, i can't imagine having a boy. (although I would love it)
Good luck for tommorow, ask anything and everything!!!

Congratulations! This is a very exciting time for you and your family! Just try to relax and enjoy it, this is the first time you see your little miracle! The person doing the scan will point out what you need to see, and make sure that you can make out things because sometimes it takes a while to see the actual face, or foot or whatever. I just knew I was having a girl, had already picked out her name and everything....only to find out that she was a he.....imagine my surprise! You have 50-50 odds...haha.
Enjoy this, it really will be a magical moment, you are excited now, but something happens to us Mommy's when we actually see our little ones for the first time. Take a tissue! Good Luck!

My feeling that I was having a girl turned out to be right, I'm happy to say.....she's 4 weeks now.
I would just relax about the scan. Depending on where you're having it done, and who's doing it, they might not be able to tell you much about what they see, other than the sex. Some places are even hesitant to tell you that much, because it isn't 100%.
If someone other than your Dr. is doing it (like a radiologist) call your doctor when you're done, let them know the scan is complete, and ask him to call you with the results (if your appointment isn't nearby).
It's wonderful! Don't forget to ask them to take a picture for your scrapbook....my little one was very active, and we got some great shots!

Congratulations! Enjoy your scan because this may be the last time you see your little one until they pop out! Mine was all a bit of a blur as the lady doing the scan was wizzing around checking baby had all the right bits and bobs. We didn't find out the sex and i have to say it makes it even more exciting! Hope it all goes well and don't forget to get some more pics! xx

good luck, hope they can tell you the babys sex, i got my scan at 19 weeks and they were able to tell me it was a girl, but everyone else that i talked to couldnt find out until they were almost 6 months some even 7 months. they usually tell you what they are looking at and if its good or not, if there is something wrong with the baby they will tell you and they will tell you what body part it is in, thats what they did for me, she went threw every area that she was gonna check, she named it and told me it was good and described what i was looking at and how it should be working and if my babys was working that way.
as for the sex of my baby, yes, i had a feeling, i just happened to get lucky though, i had a feeling that it was gonna be a girl from the day i found out i was pregnant tell the day we found out it really was a girl, i even bet my husband 200 bucks that it was a girl. but if you think about it you got a 50% chance of being right hehe.

no not really. your not going to be able to see anything anyways, its mostly just a jumble till the freeze it and actually show you a picture. I just asked that everything was where it should be and if he had everything, 2 arms, 2 legs etc. They will let you know if they see anything wrong.
Oh and I felt I was having a girl. But I had a boy!
Good luck with your scan

Just relax and enjoy yourself. I had a really good 20 week scan. I found out the sex of my baby and everything I needed. They were all over the place. Ask what you want. My ultrasound tech was full of information and extremely helpful. Hope everything goes well. :)

The ultrasound technician isn't allowed to tell you if there is something wrong.... if everything is okay, they'll usually say, "everything looks good". If for some reason they feel things are quite right, they will tell your doctor, and your doctor will tell you.
Don't worry, everything will be fine!! Just sit back and watch your baby bounce around inside you. (Before you go in, jump around a little bit to get the baby moving... as much jumping as you can with a bladder full of pee)
