If the holes are in drywall here is what you do. First get a sharp knife and trim the rough edges of the hole. Second, get a stiff piece of cardboard and cut it in a square 1-2" larger than the hole, this will vary according to the size of the hole. If the hole is too large it will make it more difficult. Next punch a tiny hole in the middle of the cardboard and thread a strong string or wire through it and tie to a match or toothpicik so it won't pull through. Next roll the cardboard up like a tube/cylinder and put through hole. Unroll the cardboard and pull it tight against the hole with the string. Next get some spackle or joint compound (from hardware store) and fill in the hole using the cardboard to keep the spackle from falling into the hole. Don't try and fill the hole in one application. Let first layer dry and reapply as needed. Sand off when finished and repaint and will look like new.

Depending on the material your walls are made of,buy a small amount of the same material and adjust the material to fit the hole, then use whatever adhesive will work with that material to place new material in the hole and let it dry. Then use some calking to smooth it out. If you have a Lowes or Home Depot in your area, you can get help by asking them what would work best!!

A. Small holes (cracks, nail holes, and other holes up to about an inch in diameter.)
1. Remove any lose or uneven plaster.
2. Put a small amount of spackling compound or patching plaster on the hole or crack.
3. With your finger work the compound into the hole or crack. Pull the straight edge of a putty knife or block across the compound to make it smooth.
B. Large holes
1. Remove any loose plaster. Smooth the edges of the hole with a knife (If the hole is too large, fill behind the hole with wadded newspaper.)
2. Partially fill the hole with spackling compound or patching plaster. Let it dry.
3. Add a second batch of compound or plaster. Let it dry.
4. Continue layering compound or plaster and allowing it to dry until the hole is completely filled.
5. When the patch is completely dry, sand it gently until it is smooth and even.

It depends on how big they are. Smaller holes can be easily patched with a little spackle. It's cheap and comes premixed in little tubs. Just spread it on with a spatula or puddy knife and let it dry. If the wall is painted a color other than white, you'll need to tough up the spot.

go to a home improvement store and buy a book, or take pen/paper with you and take down notes. I believe your holes must be pretty big if it is stopping you from having company over. Simple repairs would be drywall compound, medium repair would be a small drywall patch, large would replacing drywall in that area. Best of luck with the repair

Depends on the size of the holes. Most can be fixed cheaply. http://www.ehow.com/how_4150_patch-hole-drywall.html
