Why are we stuck to those things 24/7?

Actually; Before "Cell phones" "things" were MUCH MORE important!
Cell phones have enabled us to shuffle LESS important things to the foreground. The TRUELY important things in life have taken a "back seat" to URGENCY! Life isn't lived day by day any more. It's lived moment by moment. Personally; I NEVER turn on my cell phone unless I need it.
The first things in my life are ME, & FAMILY. They & ONLY THEY
have my cell phone number. No-one else is so important to me that an answering message won't do. I've got LOTS of things to do with my life; FOR ME!! And THAT is my priority.

Can you imagine being stuck on the road and not owning a cell phone? Or getting lost somewhere and not being able to call someone for directions? Cell phones are immensely useful in emergencies, I couldn't imagine life without one for that reason. But for non-emergencies, I don't really care. I use it as a home phone so I don't have to have a land line, and its nice because when I'm not home people could still reach me, but that doesn't mean I don't turn it on vibrate when I'm out to a nice dinner or at work or something. People who are attached are obsessed with the idea that someone important might call and they would be glad to be able to answer it right then and there.

Before cell phones were popular I have no idea how women survived outside the home. Maybe they actually took someone with them on outtings....

It's so long ago I can't remember.

I do, however, remember women without cell phones driving a Lexus and AFTER cell phones they had to get a Toyota, of couse that was back in the days of $400 a month cell phone bills.

Before I had a cell phone, I swore I didn't need one. I would say, "nothing is that important that it can't wait until I get to the phone."

Slowly I got sucked in! I got a cell phone and used it a lot!

I have calmed down quite a bit and I mostly use it to call my husband, like at the grocery store... you know call and ask him what brand of beer he wants. Stupid things.

But the best thing is when you have kids, in the case of emergency you can always be reached.

Seriously. Every woman in an SUV is in charge of some very important project that just can't wait until she gets home to discuss, so she cuts through lanes with no signals, no looking into the rear view mirror, and has free reign to do so because her SUV beats your motorcycle.

SWOCIS
stop women on cellphones in SUVs

People usually accomodate their way of living according to the advances in technology... nowadays technology has reached a point where people are completely dependent on it and can't live without it.
