she's going through some harsh times, and the harder i try to show her my support, the faster she pushes me away. She's a really strong, independent woman, and says she'd rather not be with me till things have cooled down a bit, but i still want to show her i care, What can i do? Back off?

When comes to Independent woman. she rather to be that way than being hurt again. What you can do is being there for her long as you can and she will give in. She has feelings and yes she does have harsh times but you know what have you been like that in her shoes??? if not then how would you understand her? if you do tell her...

Show her you care by honoring her request that you stay away until things have cooled down a bit. You describe her as being strong and independent. This is what such a person would want.

well sweets, you sound like a real caring guy, but i guess if she needs her space, i would give it to her cause its only gonna push her away more! Just tell her how much you care and if she needs anything you will be there for her.... I'm sure that she would really appreciate that... I hope everything works out!

When it comes to strong independent women they just need there space to figure things out no matter how hard it is. I know because i do it myself. When she needs you she'll come to you and all you can do is be there to support her. Be ready to catch her when she falls sorta speak. Good luck and I hope everything works out!

Yes back off a bit. But stay available for when she needs you. And tell her that you are going to give her her space , but when she needs you for her to let you know and you will be there for her.

completely backing off may not be the best idea. you should keep your distance for a while to show her you respect her but also do some indirect things to show her you care

there are some people they think they r strong so when ever they r involved with problem they don't want to admit it..its a psychological problem. they think they will be inferior if the truth release.let her go according to her own will,but follow her in case she needs your help..be patient , be friendly because she is sick not you....handle her coolly..OK.

Back off for a little while. give her some space. Sometimes, it is easier to think when you don't have someone in your space.
