first you must buy songs. to get them go to music store and at the top right corner there will be a search bar and type in the song artist or album. when you move to the right, there will be a buy now button. click that to buy it . it will put it into your shopping cart. then press buy now to the right.

there should be a cord that came with your ipod. one side will have a picture that looks like a hand with three fingers. if you have a two year old or older monitor it will not work. if you have a young monitor, keep reading.

you might have to open a latch to get to it or not. there will be a place to plug it in that has the same picture on it. plug the cord in to where it has the same picture. on the other end of the chord, plug that in to the bottom of your ipod. it will say DO NOT DISCONNECT! on the screen of your ipod. it is updating. at the top of your computer screen, when it's done, it will say Ipod update is complete. on your ipod it will still say DO NOT DISCONNECT! and where it says library, there will be an eject button. press it. now on the sides of the cord connected to your ipod, there will be one oval on each side. press those together and pull away from your ipod. THATS IT!!

By default Itunes will automatically sync all the songs in your library to the iPod everytime you connect the iPod. It will not sync songs that are "unchecked" in your library.

If you want to manually control it, assuming your running iTunes version 7, you will see your iPod in the sources list on the left side of the screen. Click on your iPod, then there are 4 options near the bottom of the screen, click the one that says manually manage music.

Then click the arrow pointing at your iPod in iTunes, this will rotate down to let you see the songs in your iTunes library. You can delete individual songs or you can drag a song from your iTunes library to the iPod.

After that you should see a list of things you can do. Click on "sync ipod" then all the songs you have will be down loaded to your ipod.
