When I were a lad, we didn't 'av these CPs that the youngsters 'av these days to do their 'omework. We 'ad to do all the writin' an' workin's out oursel's an' be able to show it t' teacher.

An' we'd still 'ave time for a game o' footie in the park after eatin' our tea and helpin' Mum wash an' put away dishes. Nowt exercise these days for the youngsters. Too busy eating Burger Huts, playin' with their Paystations an' Mintendoes an' the like, tryin' to get as many ASDOs as they can....

What the rest o' you think?

It may help you if you try to imagine a 70 year old Yorkshire man with a flat cap and a whippet saying this.....

(I'm not from Yorkshire by the way - just liked the line When I were a lad...)

And if you're not familiar with a Yorkshire accent. Watch Emmerdale (I dont watch that either)

Well, I am a 14 year old girl, and I hardly ever use homework help. Though, sometimes I do if I dont understand how to solve a algebra question, but then I ask for an explanatian and how to solve/symplify a problem that hasn't been assigned for homework, but is the same type. As for the rest, I just came back from dance class and I have my fair share of chores to do. and what the heck is a ASDO (feels stupid)

Anyway, you are describing SOME teens, but not all. I dont have "paystation, Mintendoes an' the like" But I do read (alot) and play computer games. But I also get a lot of excercise and work hard in school. So don't lump all teens together.

I completely getwhat you are saying and im a 25yr old female southerner!! -but i also love the like " when i were a lad"

Im a mother of three-the oldest is nearly 7-and i limit them to one hour on the computer playing educational games, we read their school books together as they love listening to each other read, then they help the toddler make up a story using picture books. and they also get more than an hours excersise a day when you include playtimes at school and the walk there and back!
I think this is much better than them playing "beat 'em ups" on a games console-hopefully supporting them this way will prevent any asbo's

I think its nice and I often use it for help.
It'd be just the same as researching to find the answer elsewhere.
And just so you know, back in the day you guys didn't have near the work that we do.
When my mom went to school it was so easy. There were no junior exit papers or senior exit projects, everything was easy as pie, so I believe that with more work, we should be able to use Y! anwers as a resource.

I had to do mine the old fashioned way too, either go to the library for references and info, or just figure it out on my own or fail. But i appreciate it for what it is and it would of been helpful to have something like the Internet around when I had a big project to do for school.

You should get an ASDO for your spelling, whatever an ASDO may be!

I agree. I try not to answer questions that look like attempts to get help with homework.
