Nothing but abstinence is 100% effective from pregnancy. It's less likely you will get pregnant if you take precautions, go on the pill and using condoms is the safest way to go... it's normal to be paranoid about getting pregnant especially when it's your first time. If the condom didn't break you should be fine! I've been married for 12 years, have two children and I still sometimes worry ... Also don't get freaked out if you are late this month or your cycles change a bit. Some women's hormones change after they have been sexually active causing changes to there cycles... this is another reason the birth control pill can keep those cycles regular. I hope I helped a bit?

I am sorry but i feel very sad to say this but i didn't realise just how many spiteful, unhelpful and down right bullies there are on this board. You have come on here as you are obviously anxious and need some advice and majority of replies have just been written to have a pop at you and make you feel awful! shame on all who wrote those replies!
Looking at your situation i would say it is unlikely that you are pregnant given the fact you have had sex during your period. I first have to say well done for actually using a condom, sometimes thiings do happen even with every good intention and to be young, nieve and ignorant is no fault as we have all been there. What i would say to you though is to perhaps make you feel better you could go as soon as possible to your family planning clinic and have the coil fitted as this can act as a late 'morning after contraceptive'. If not then you should wait for your period but in the meantime might be worth a trip down to the GUM clinic as catching an STD is more likely during your period than getting pregnant and should also be a top priority. In future maybe speak to your doctor about a form of oral contraceptive alongside the condom for added protection, that way you should be as protected as possible from both pregnancy and std's. Don't panic though, i am sure you will be fine. Don't forget as well should this accident happen again there is always the morning after pill which can be taken upto 72 after you had unprotected sex.
Hope this helps! fingers crossed for you.

Okay, technically there are no "safe" day's when having sex....having said that the usual time that you can be safe (or as safe as you can be without the pill....) is when you are having your period. That is the only time when your uterus is purging the unfertilized egg and excess blood from your system. It all depends on how heavy your periods are....did you not see the condom when he was done??? cause you should have been able to see if it was like an intact little balloon or torn and leaking....but if you didn't see it, I understand; For your own safety, wait till you get your next period (and yes worrying about being pregnant can make your period come late) I would advise you to count 28 days after the sex....then get a pregnancy test (and make sure you get one that can test for early results) you can get them at your local drug store. If it comes back negative, then you need to go on birth control of your own, (i.e. the pill, or the injection) ONLY you can take control of your body and if and when you get pregnant hon...you can NEVER EVER trust a man, because all they want is to get off, and since they aren't the ones who have to carry the baby for 9 months and go through all the changes, and care for the little one for the next 16-18 years.... you MUST take responsibility for yourself that is if you are going to keep being sexually active. If I had to lean in one direction or another, I would say that you are very likely safe, whether or not he came inside you, typically it's unusual to get pregnant when you are menstrating. However, you must protect yourself, from here on and get some other form of birth control, as well as using a condom, even if you are on the pill, do not EVER not use a condom, cause usually no one looks like they have an STD (sexually transmitted disease). So just looking at or talking to someone is not enough.

best of luck honey, and I hope you will be okay!

I could ask you why you waited to do this for the first time while on your period, but that was your choice. There is no "safe" period while on your period. Granted, there are times that you are more likely to get pregnant, it can happen anytime. Sperm lives inside you 3 to 5 days after sex. Also having sex while on your period may put you at a higher risk for std's, make your period heavier, and cause your cramps to be worse. While he may have not noticed a tear, there still could have been one, so the only thing I can really tell you is to wait and see. Although, don't be in a complete panic if your next period is off a little, your body is adjusting. Don't ever think that you can't get pregnant during your period, that is a myth.

Unless upon removal of the condom there was an apparent tear, my guess is that you would not be pregnant. As it was during your period (which is not the peak time of fertility), this makes it less likely to be true.

So, stop worrying.

Now, with some women when they lose their virginity, it might make your menstral cycle alittle off the next time it comes around. Even then, no, you are not pregnant.

In addition, if you are this concerned, I would suggest talking to a doctor or health professional about going on oral contraseptives.

You should be fine, condoms are pretty durable. Get one out and see for your self. They are strong. Usually people dont ovulate when they are on their period, but a good way of looking at it is, your period is your body's own way of cleansing its self. You usually ovulate about 12 days after your period. Then you have a period which washed out everything that is still there , if anything. All bodies are different though. If you continue to have sex and you are this worried about getting pregnant then maybe you should use a birth control that you feel more comfortable with. There are clinics that are very discrete!!

Don't worry. 99% chance you're not pregnant. There's a slight slight slight chance you could be pregnant, but chances are you're not. Even if he did come in you, it was at a time that's pretty safe. If you have a 28 to 30 day cycle, you generally ovulate anywhere from 10 to 15 days after your period had started and you were only on day 3. You should be fine.

okay, i sorta understand where you are coming from. But the guy would have most definately known if the condom broke, they can feel it. but umm ya, it is possible that you could be pregnant. there are absolutely no safe days and sperm can stay alive for a long time. Not trying to be a smart*** or anything, but you might want to do some research on all the sex stuff, like condoms breaking and how long sperm can stay alive and that kind of stuff before thee next time you have sex.

Condoms are very effective when used "perfectly". For a single instance, with no tears or slippage, your chances or being pregnant are slim (a tear would likely be noticeable if you checked).

Because condoms will break and slip, even with careful use, they are about 85% effective with "normal use". That means if you have a regular partner, these are your chances of a condom failing over time. Note that these are not your chances of getting pregnant as a result of that failed condom, just the likelihood of a condom failing.

You probably aren't pregnant. It's very unlikely that you could have conceived at that point in your period, and condoms are designed to withstand "all the movement." He's also right--if it had torn, he would have known when he went to take it off, unless he just wasn't paying attention. Wait until your next period is due and take a home pregnancy test if you're late and still think you could be pregnant.
