Last night I was lying on my side, and I felt a sharp throbbing pain in the middle of my abdomen. I'm 16 weeks 3 days pregnant. I moved to turn over and it felt like something snapped in there. I'm scared because I just want my baby to be okay. Can the umbilical cord come un-done from the placenta? Would I have symptoms other than off and on sharp throbbing pains if something was wrong? My next drs appointment is Monday, and I've gone to the ER 3 times already b/c I was paranoid about certain feelings. I'm scared. What is going on ? Please give me all the possible answers u can. Thank u

Can't you call your doctors office, my ex wife used to call them if she had a question.

If the pain went away, I would say, you could be having growing pains. Sometimes when your body is getting bigger (stretching) you may have pain with this. It is normal. But if the pain is lasting for a long time? Then maybe you should call you doctor and have your appointment moved up. If this is your first pregnancy? Your body has never gone through the changes it will go through so sometimes it can cause cramps and or a pain. I would take it real easy for a few days. Maybe put your feet up and watch some TV. or read a book ,just take it easy. I'm sure if it was something bad the hospital would not of let you go home. So see, that has to be a good thing. Just take it easy until your doctor appointment. I hope this has helped.

First of all calm down..Your body is going through many many changes and sometimes you will feel pains. the umbilical cord is not going to snap off the placenta from laying on your side in bed.. Being pregnant right now for the second time I assure you you are not the only pregnant woman who goes through new and different pains. Yes it is easy to get scared about your babies well being but the more you stress and worry over it the worse it is on you and your Lil one.
If you have major concerns you can call your DR and ask to speak with them or one of the nurses and they can reassure you that this doesn't just happen. Also if they feel you should be seen right away they will have you come into their office since they know your chart and your background, the ER will not have access to your medical records and will be able to give you the personal care you need.

I think maybe you're over-reacting. Your uterous grows and grows throughout your pregnancy - especially at the point you're at now. It is painful at this point. It could be a growing pain - I was scared when I had mine too. If you've already gone to the ER and they didn't find anything - then don't worry. If you're still scared, call your OB - that's what you pay them for. Don't wait for your appt to call and ask them what they think.

the ony time to worry is if you are in terrible pain ,i mean doubled over or if you see blood ,other than that you will feel strange to start with as so much is changing in you ,,you will worry so much you could cause tention and actually make yourself feel bad ,try not to enjoy this time is beautifull,,,i gather this is your first time ,,,you will be fine ,,just keep all your appiontments and ask anything you are worried about at these ,,if unsure ring your midwife who can tell you what to exspect ,,,read up on it and you wont worry as much ,,

i am 16 weeks and a few days too. I get pains where the uterus is stretching... but nothing really scarey.. they should give you an emergency unltrasound.. go to er and insist on it if you are worried, but pains are noraml when you are streching

My guess is that it's round ligament pain. I had it with both of my pregnancies. However, if you're worried, than call your dr to make sure. It's probably okay, though!

You need to calm down call your DR. since its not after hours. and see what they say first. you stressing over everythin is stressing out your baby, and you DONT want to do that...
But if its an unbearable pain you need to go immediately . otherwise call your DR.
