Some songs from bands like Red, Skillet, Hawk Nelson, Dead Poetic, and many others don't sound Christian but they are in fact Christian.

Just because a Christian band doesn't say "Jesus" every two seconds doesn't mean they are not Christian.

For example: Just because I don't hear you saying "I love Jesus" every second of the day, I am not going to doubt that you are a Christian.

Plenty of Christian bands will talk about relationships, hardships, ..etc..., because that is what we as Christian's go through.

So, don't make the mistake of judging a band because of their hard rock sound, or a song that doesn't say Jesus every two seconds. Jesus loves christian rock too. He knows that everybody likes a different style of music, and wants to express themselves through what they like. That is our purpose in life, is to use our God given talents and use it for his glory. Bands like Underoath, Skillet, Emery...etc...are using those gifts.

Every generation is different. If I took my Underoath cd to my grandparents house and put it on for them, they would most likely not appreciate it. If I took a Chris Tomlin cd to my grandparents, they still might not appreciate it. Say I took a hymnal cd, they might appreciate that. It's different for everyone. Each generation likes different music and different styles. Just because you have a different sound, doesn't mean you are trying to please the world instead of God. Everybody has an opinion on what they like, and should respect others opinions as well.

a good exanple of that is the band norma jean. great band who used to be mostly "christian" but are now experimenting with sounds and songs that sound like most secular songs that are being played on mainstream radios today. in my opinion, i think that the reason many of the christian bands have "mainstream appeal" is to show that not all christian bands market only worship music. when most people think of "christian music" they think of whatever they have heard growing up in a boring church. And christian music is not always like that. you can listen to pop, rock, hard rock, country etc all from christian artists. christian music doesn't always haved to be about just "praising God", it can also be about normal, everyday situations, life in general or relationships. But thats just my opinion!

I love skillet. The reason they don't sound "christian" is because people have put christian songs in a box and have said what they think it should sound like.

Mabe it's to break that sterotype people have tended to place on christian music, that it has to sound a certain way or contain a certain message or it isn't 'real christain'.In my opinion that's bull, good music speaks to your soul and heart regardless of how it's packaged/labled,that shouldn't take away the essence or the meaning.Breaking those sterotypes is good because it attracts so many people who ordinarily wouldn't listen to it and effect them more deeply.

i might want to point that you do not decrease your self to "good Christian songs"... come across the completed international of people song, maximum of it really is sweet for a guitar and bass. in case you pick to limit your self to "Christian songs" there has been an explosion of latest song over the basically accurate 20 or 30 years. maximum of it comes from the Fundamentalists and Pentecostals.

Because the good message is lost in the loud noise, instead of making nice music like Nichole Nordeman and Stacie Orrico!

is there a particular "christian sound"? how stupid is this question honestly why cant a muso be a christian and not sound like every other cliche "christian" band. everyband / muso has their own sound its a personality thing like how every person has a different personality.

That's because Christian songs suck ballz, and if you wanna make it as an artist, you gotta get the brainwash masses first by pretending to be all religious like, then turn to the darkside by delving into rock and rule. Yes, I misspelled it on purpose.

Mwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

I like to call those artists "Christian Lite", where they try and appeal to both the Christian radio stations, and top 40 stations. I dislike it, myself, because they are trying to please the world, rather than God.
