The definition of government is the allocation of value(s) in a society. Conservatives believe that man's nature is evil. Man is someone who cannot bridle their own instincts of greed, selfishness, etc; Liberals believe that man is basically good. Given enough freedom and support, that man will do the right thing and become a productive member of society who can regulate his/her own behaviors, with very little outside involement.
Conservatives think that society must be protected from the individual. Hence they support gun ownership, protection of religion, etc; They believe that these "values" promote a healthier society. Liberals on the other hand, believe that the individual needs to be protected from the tyranny of the masses (society).
So I guess the operative question is what you believe to be the real nature of man -- good, or evil. I prefer to think that man is basically good. Feed, educate, care for someone's health and they will generally become productive, tax paying, wage earning citizens who conform to the agreed upon standards of the community (mores and laws).
I am more Libertarian than conservative or liberal. Libertarians believe that government is almost never the answer to an idividual or society's ills. Goverment is somewhat like a crutch for the feeble or infirm. The more we rely on goverment to allocate what the values in our lives ought to be, the less self determination (freedom) that we have to choose our own way. Will you decide what is best for you and your family, or do you feel that someone else is more capable of making those decisions for you?

Hmm...there are lots of reasons. It seems most conservatives would answer with something to the effect of "Because liberals are big fat stupid heads!"
But then again, liberals will say the same about conservatives.
This is pretty basic stuff here--people who
a) disagree with one another
b) seek to use the force of government to force everyone else to live according to their worldview
generally do not care for each other. Next question.

Because they're too liberal. Conservatives like things done according to specific standards and liberals tend to throw all that out the window. Think of it like sharing a room with a sibling - the conservative is the 'neat freak' and the liberal is the 'slob'. The conservative doesn't like what the liberal does in their room because it effects them and doens't meet their own standards.

They think government programs are the answer to all societal ills, that making money should be punished, and that they can help people by teaching them to become dependent and changing rules when you are a minority.
The biggest reason not to like them - they are convinced that their idealitic world view translates to sound policy, and if you disagree, you are cruel, sick and wrong.

My biggest reason is that they believe that one side does not deserve to win (the USA) a war, against terrorism if the USA must use torture or other techniques that are not high up on the morality scale. Of course none of them have ever been poor contrary to what they say.
Also, i greatly dislike their PC ideas. I think PC is one of the most out of control things of today

They are all like a bunch of kids fighting to say they are right. They all should work together and be realistic about the issues facing our country.

first they r unamerican, ive seen muslims that r more american than liberals, they hate jesus, cant debate unless it is all about lies, they think clinton was a good president, love terrorism, kill fetuses, kill small business, hate the 2nd amendment, hate r founding fathers, think socialism is great, are old hippes that smell and have no logical thoughts left in their brain,
