He never specified.
He only told the WWE that he was going to leave to "take a break" and next thing ya know he's in TNA.
His contract probably expired, decided to take a break, and then changed his mind.

Kurt Angle did not leave the WWE because Vincent Kennedy McMahon fired him on 8/25/06. That is that!!!!!!

Now, as far as for TNA well like I have stated before, Kurt Angle's son's mother who is Antoinette "Nicesty Girl" told him to go there back in July 2002, when she was 5 months pregnant with their son. The first time she told him was in April 2002. He told her that he would never go to TNA but he realized that was a great idea after all.

The only child that Kurt Angle is the biological father of is his son Steven and he is by Antoinette "Nicesty Girl".

For the American Dream. Im kidding. Kurt Angle was suffering a lot of injuries while working with or in the WWE. He moved to TNA because they don't let him wrestle every week but now and then. The WWE was really taking the mickey out of him and TNA is a new opportunity for him. He is doing well there too!

The WWE was destroying his body and his family with it's big schedule. expect many other wrestlers to make the move to TNA soon, like Rey Mysterio. TNA wrestlers only work about 5 times a month, and there is limited space on TNA's Main event card. it was a great move for Kurt Angle, just like moving from WCW to WWF was a great move for the Big Show and Chris Jericho.

Kurt Angle left for many reasons, but most notable was his addiction to pain killers. Kurt had been battling this addiction while still trying to put on the five-star matches the crowd had come to expect. Initially, Kurt was going to be given time off to heal up and rest, but due to other stars getting injured, was not given that time. WWE (read Vince McMahon) became disenchanted with Angle's continued addiction to pain killers and refusals to rehab himself. As such, he was released per the WWE Wellness policy and his own request. The hope was that Angle would go home, rest up, and come back. However, as seen, Kurt did not rest, and still insists he is fine physically and mentally to compete. This is utlimately the reason he left.

It will always be in debate.
wwe claim that he was to injury prone, suddenly not worth the trouble, and difficult to deal with, despite getting a world title within a couple months and maineventing their ecw rebirth.
Kurt Angle felt he wasnt used well (which may be true since he is one of the 3 greatest wrestlers in history) and was taking a backseat to wrestlers with no talent that got the spotlight. And he claimed that he didnt get enought time off. He was working about 300 days a year and said Vince kept denying his time off.
It's probably a little bit of both, but he is getting better matches now. He can get a better match out of Joe, AJ, or christian than anybody in wwe (except RVD/Edge, of course)

Kurt Angle was tired of having to "put over" less talented wrestlers like Cena. He felt the company had began to hold him back and place him in mid-card status b/c he had not had a title run for quite a while.

its n.o.y.b short for none of your business. if kurt angle felt uncomfortable and unhappy with mcmahon then that is mcmahons fault for using kurt angle for wrong reasons. and kurt didnt have much time with his daughter and wife when he was in wwe. but now he does he has a lighter schedule etc. and mcmahon really ****** up and mcmahon will pay the rise for it i think he is right now because wwe is collapsing like an old building.

On August 25, 2006, Angle was granted an early release from his WWE contract due to "personal issues"
