Will any old glue work or should we only use the jewelry glue?

No, don't use any old glue that you have around the house. You have to use something that will hold its bond. Try using Jewel-it or two-part epoxy. Also, allow enough time for the glue to set-up, generally speaking that means at least 48 hours.

Goop and E6000 are good jewelry glues. They are readily available at any large craft store.

Make sure it's costume jewelry first (and not just fake looking) and use two part epoxy. Please, never use glue on real jewelry.

first of all, the place is the crack? If its on any of the tank partitions, it quite is not a sturdy thought to purpose to repair a crack like that. If its a seal that sprung a leak then you definately ought to apply aquarium risk-free silicone, no glues, to re-seal it.
