Also if you release gas and it somehow catches on fire becomes a fireball and catches someone else on fire killing them. Can you be held liable. Can the family sue you.

No, you couldn't be held liable. It was a normal bodily function that everyone does, sometimes involuntary, and you couldn't be expected to anticipate a freak accident like that.

Of course the family can sue you. Anybody can sue anybody for whatever reason. But they wouldn't win, and it would most likely be thrown out of court.
