NOT in MY view. Because, while we are not perfect(look at demorats), we are still the most free, the most charitable, the first to be willing to give our lives to defend others. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! YBIC

Better in what way? I have travelled a lot and met people from all different places and cultures. Their countries are beautiful and their cultures and traditions are just as special to them as ours to us. You could say that in some ways we are "better off" than a lot of countries who do not share in the abundance we have in our country. In that sense we should have some responsibility to share from what we have. The power and influence of our government combined with the media and the "slant" they take may color our view of our country or another. When the focus is on the "bad" things in or from a country it can be hard to see the best part of that same place.

"Better" is such a generalized and over used term. You might get more viable results from such a question by specifying in what way you would describe a country as being "better" than another, perhaps, in an environmental perspective of cleaniness, or Per Capita wealth, or healthcare system, or the quality/availibility of food. Perhaps your "better" life is in line with the older style view of a quality of life involving being entertained. Yet, anyone born in the US would be hard pressed to get around the patriotism that has been a major part of its history to be able to objectively compare another country to ours. I know I can't. America Rocks.

America is a continent, not a country. Within this continent you find the countries Canada, United States, Mexico, and so on.
I take it you mean the U.S.
The U.S. has many great sides: generally positive attitude ("can do"), and a pragmatic approach to many things in life. And low taxes, in international comparison.
It also has many bad sides: a homicide rate that is a multiple of that in other rich countries; a teenage pregnancy rate that is about 10x higher than that of other rich countries; a public school system that is among the worst among rich countries; a public healthcare system that is among the worst among rich countries; a social protection system that is nearly absent; a jail population that is several times larger, as a percent of total population, than that of most other rich countries; a totally carelless attitude towards the environment (the U.S. pollutes twice as much, per unit of GDP, as the rest of the rich world).
Bottom-line? Depends where you're coming from, what you're looking for in life.
If you're an entrepreneur looking to find seed money to start a new high-tech business, you're better off in the U.S. If you become successful (rich) at it you're even better off in the U.S. (in France they'd take 70pc of your income, and there would be a high inheritance tax afterwards).
If you're a lowish income family, who cannot afford a private school, private healtchare, you're better off in Europe.
and so on
reasonable people can be happy in most places ;-)

That is a good question.. I have lived all over the world and every country has something to offer that is unique and loveable. USA has its perks.. freedom, laws and all that jazz but I prefer Europe because they know what living is and they enjoy life and know how to really pick themselves up. America is great and is the strongest union but I don't truly know if that makes it better than anyone else. Sometimes showing weakness is a strength. We all have room to improve... including our country.

Better in what way? I think you need to ask a more specific question.
I myself have lived in two other countries. I love the U.S. but this country is not the be all end all.
People who say that the U.S. is the "greatest" country in the world have probably never lived in any other country.

Yes and no. Some countries are better for one person while another country is better for another person. I'm sure there are people who don't want to move here, as well as Americans who want to move out.

May be but considering I've lived in two countries, the US being one of them, I think it's a great country. I'm blessed to be living here. Because there's freedom and opportunity if you work hard.
