No, it won't grow back and reconnect. But what might happen is that other nerves may take over if the nerves get alot of practice and there is a need. But that can take along time to do.

No, for the nerve cell to regenerate its axons, the two broken ends have to meet. Nerve cells will grow new axons slowly following the guidence of the broken nerve and will grow about 1-2mm/day.

A few years ago i had the nerve ends in my back burned to aleviate my back pain i was told this was only temporary as they would grow back.

I don't think so...if they could fix it a lot of people wouldn't be paralyzed right now. Nerve cells don't grow back that's why stem cell research is so important.
