Is it safe to use a pack n play instead of a crib. I was planning on not buying a crib but just buying a pack n play for my baby. How long can a baby sleep in a pack n play.
Thanks.

And where is this child going to sleep when it gets too big for the pack and play? You need to just get a crib. A playpen isn't safe to sleep in, and it's definitely not comfortable.

Have you felt the mattress on a pack and play? It is like cardboard with a little bit of cushioning over the top. It's fine for traveling, or temporary use, but a baby usually sleeps in a crib until between the ages of 2 and 3. That is a long time to have such little support. Get a crib. If money is an issue, maybe you could borrow one from a friend with older kids, or get a used one. Just make sure it isn't too old, so it's still safe. Good luck.

Well the top part is only good up to about 15 lbs I think. Maybe even less then that. Then the bottom part is only good up to a certain weight as well. We only use our pack and play when we are staying overnight out of our house. The bottom tends to be really uncomfortable for my son. We actually lined the bottom with Memory Foam and covered it with a sheet so he would be more comfortable. Although you don't want to do anything like that until they have good head and body control because it could cause SIDS.
I think that having them in a crib is a much safer way to go, but if you can't afford one then a Pack -n- Play is better then nothing.
We were able to buy a crib that turns into a toddler bed for around $300, it's a great investment if you can afford it.

You can use it in place of a bassinet for the first couple of months, but a baby really needs a crib that has a mattress for support. Once the baby is 3 months old, the pack & play should be used as a portable crib for overnight trips only.

A pack and play is okay for napping or when you are not at home, for the baby to sleep in, but I don't think it is a good replacement of a crib. It will be less comfortable for the baby and as they get older I'd imagine the baby will be able to climb out a lot easier.

I'm sure there is a weight limit for the pack and play - so then you will know how long your baby can sleep in there. My daycare uses a pack and play instead of buy cribs for the babies ( I had to sign a waiver) but it was okay with the state because she is licensed, so it must be okay for your baby to sleep in a pack and play. Good Luck!

They can get out of the pack & play much sooner than a crib. I also don't think they're as comfortable (feel the bottom padding for yourself!). In any event you're going to wind up with a transition period when your baby is too big for the pack & play and too young for a big-boy bed.

Check out craigslist.org - you can find nice used cribs for next to nothing.

I dont help co drowsing while they're youthful reason they are able to get harm or killed by applying twist of destiny. A %. and play would be greater beneficial then paying for a inexpensive bassinet, I had the white one with reversable flannal purple and blue cushion and enable me enable you recognize that become a soreness in my butt, the legs gave on it at some point while my son become in it. NOW its a stuffy holder. %. and performs do contain a warning that they are to be watched while the youngster is in it reason there are some hazzard aspects that the little you possibly can roll and sufficate, a crib has open rails for greater air stream. in my view i've got faith in case you purchase a sturdy one and inspect it for section the toddler can get harm on and its all sturdy then you definately must be superb. look at your close by thrift save or consignment save they could be abl that could be useful you if it money thats an argument, if its in basic terms area the toddler will adventualy want a mattress so i could get the cribs that convert to a toddle to an entire. i like mine and that i've got been given fortunate I quite have the movable rail.

Yes for a little while but they grow out of them alot quicker My daughter slept in her crib untile 2 and 3 months but she had grown out of the pack in play at around 14/15 months, and that was kind of pushing it. They can get out of those easier to cause they are closer to the ground.

The manufacturers say no. I had researched this myself.

I ended up buying the Jenny Lind crib. It is about $100 and is rated the safest of all by Consumer Reports. It is really cute, too!
