Certainly if he was to both sing and write the song it would be a move from the usual cheesy tripe that forms most of the entries. The success of Lordi last year is a sign that people want real music and performers who are actually capable of writing their own songs.
As for it being a political popularity competition, then surely a good act that impresses people will far overpower any political bias. Morrissey is a very good songwriter and singer, certainly unique (listen to Ringleader of the Tormentors for a good example), It is up to the viewers and entrants now, especially in the wake of Lordi's success, break any stereotypes and give a truly unique and entertaining performance. There is a revolution in Eurovision- we can be head of it.
Go Morrissey! I know who I'd want to represent the UK.

Although Morrissey can write some gloomy and melancholy lyrics, he is infact a very good song writer
