I have a Compaq Presario 1245 Laptop. I tried to replace the HDD with a bigger one, and the "O S not found " message came up. When I put the original back in, it said the same thing. The one I was using originally worked just fine, and the other one was working just fine in a Gateway laptop. Anyone know whats wrong? Oh, and the CD tray wont open either, it also worked fine before. HELP!!

"D McC" is probably right. it's probably a connection issue. you should put back the original hard drive and check the all connections. there should be at least two cables connected to the hard drive and cd drive (from the motherboard):
- power cable (which has four big pins)
- ide cable (flat, wide cable which has 80 pins)

if you want to use the bigger hard drive and if the bigger hard drive has windows installed, then you will probably have to reinstall the windows.

it sounds like there is a bad connection with the hdd and the motherboard check all the connections, with the hdd from the other laptop you will have to reformat it and reinstall your windows because the drivers will all be different, the one you took out should work again ok so long it is connected properly, it also sounds like your cd tray is not connecyed properly either

You may need to reinstall OS.I tried to replace my HD once and had the same problem. If reinstalling doesn't help, just go get a refund, that is what I had to do.
