One week ago my cat scratched me on my pinky finger. For the past week my pinky finger, the side of my ring finger and that side of my hand has been numb and tingling. the scratch doesn't appear infected, no redness or swelling, only the numbness. Should I see a doctor about this and if so, what kind?

There are several things that can go wrong from a cat scratch. My family has been the victim of three... cat scratch fever, where the infection from a cat scratch goes somewhere else in the body and causes much trouble is one. A second is bells palsy, which is sortof a by product of cat scratch fever, where the nerves in and around the face are affected by the infection, and third for my family was nerve damage due to the fine cut a cat's claws can make. See your doctor as soon as possible and let him/her know of your cat scratch and the date of it. Good luck!

I have the same thing right now. I picked up a kitten and it freaked and the tip of my finger got scratched and the scratch is healed mostly but there is a mild tingly numbness near the area, and it almost seems like it is spreading or creeping a bit, but no symptoms of fever like disease. I hope it is not rabies, because the I am screwed. May the person who posted this originally let us know what it was ? (Gosh, this was posted 9 years ago). If you got rabies and died, I might cut my finger off, or my hand, or arm, or let a spider bite the area to kill anything that might spread (and eat garlic)

Def see a doctor. It may not look infected but it may still be. Also, it might have somehow damaged a nerve. A general practitioner should be able to examine the injury and give you a good referral if needed.

The cat may have hit a nerve. I would go to the doctor. See your PCP.
