I came across a woman from the US who said she was a princess because of family lines, ad that both the UK and USA governements had accepted that. So are there many of those in the US? How close do you have to be to be a Prince or Princess?

There is no royality in the United States.
Even if someone were realated to royality it doesn't mean that the person is a prince or princess. That person might be a duchess/duke or a lady/lord but not a prince or princess. The only way a person can be considered a prince or princess is by being directly descended from the king or queen; i.e. their son or daughter.

I think some such as Catherine Oxenberg, being descended from royalty sometimes is given a COURTESY title of "Princess".. And in some European kingdoms/ principalities, etc. I think in the past the titles of Prince, etc. might be passed down through many generations. Clearly this has not been the case in the UK in the past century or so. Those titles are available only to children of the Sovereign and to specified grandchildren.

The only way someone can be a Princess or Prince is if they are relatively closely related to a royal family.
If that person lives in a normal house with limited wealth then they are not closely related enough to be a princess.

Oh, I’m sure that there are many people in the US that are from Royal blood lines. I am, but I’m too far removed from the royalty itself to be considered a prince; I’m primarily French and Irish, but my genetic heritage is a motley crew of just about every nationality you can think of. I do have an Egyptian King (Pharaoh?) in my family tree. In fact, my grandfather once told me that the Egyptian Ruler (Fezzal, I think it was) who passed away around the time I was born is a very distant relative. But like I said, I’m too far removed to be considered royalty.
Feel free to build some kind of sand pyramid to me next time you go to the beach, though. LOL
I’ve seen some last names here in the US that I’m rather certain have royal origins, LeMer for example, but they had no genealogical records to back up my suspicions.

That woman sure is dumb. Obviously, she's not a princess. She's only a princess if she is up close in line for the throne.
So I am assuming she's not even 90th in line, so no, she's not a princess. SHe's only descneded from royalty. I am too but from German royalty from the 18th century. I don't go around, calling myself a princess.

I dont know how close you have to be to certain ties. But they aren't just american blooded, they have to be ie,russian, german, beligan. I have some royal blood in me,but heck I'm no princess (literaly and figuratively). And most of the time,in case you didn't know, you pretty much have to be the daughter/son of a queen/king to be a princess. My geuss is this women is lying, alot. She could be royal to another country, but she is just a plain old American here. Just as I'd be royal in germany, not here.

You have to be the daughter of a Sovereign or the daughter of one of the Sovereign's sons (or married to one). So I don't think this lady can be a Princess. The US grants no such titles.

there WAS royalty in the USA. The State of Hawaii has a palace and royal family of descendants. whose families still claim their birthrights today, and also, there could be royals "living " in the USA instead of their origins.
