I agree with the advice from above, but here is some additional advice.
- Go to a liberal arts school. Because there are only undergraduates professors have time to focus on you and you will get to help with their research, as well as learning how to think.
- Consider majoring in philosophy. It is the major with the highest exceptence rate into medical school. You will need to take the science and math courses needed for medical school, but you will also learn how to think critically.
- Meet the pre-med advisor of the schools you are looking at. You want to know if you feel like you can work with them for the next 4 years.
- Intern/job-shaddow at pediatricians offices in your area to make sure you love it so you don't end up spending 8 years in college and $400,000 in debt when you realize you want to be a teacher.
Some schools to look at are:

Spelman College: http://www.spelman.edu
Good Luck!

Starting at one tuition after which shifting to a different was once a nasty notion for me given that they informed me yea yea yea Statistics will switch, oh yeah Children's Literature will switch, of path some of these categories will switch to any school. Well the ones two specially and a couple of others needed to be retaken given that they did not switch. Funny factor is that the category they positioned me in for the ones two that I acknowledged have been so so such a lot less complicated. In my first Statistics elegance we went by way of the complete booklet in eight weeks and had a experiment each and every week (no notes, books or calculators have been allowed). In the statistics elegance on the school I transferred to, we took a complete semester to head by way of the booklet and simplest had a experiment as soon as a month and we even have been allowed to make use of our notes and books. Made a B within the first one and an A within the moment one.

Emory University is one of the best universities in Atlanta and the south. It has a very prestigious medical program. As far as major it doesn't matter what you major in as long as you fulfill the pre-med requirements.
If you want to go to an HBCU Spelman is one of the most prestigious black colleges in Atlanta. I think they have a pre-med program as well.

Major in premedicine and go to the very best school that you can get into, no matter where it is.
If no premedicine major is available, work with an advisor to make sure that you get the right misx of courses, and major in biology.
