...recall the UK's media's 'fear', with the usual words being bandied about to make some of us wary and eventually offensive, with some of our opinions (and 'verdicts') being aired on Yahoo Answers...could it be that people from the said countries have ignored the (mostly Londoncentric) hype, and indeed, realise Continental Europe is the place to take their trade and experience?

In Vino Veritas - you must be, pet! I refer to the newspapers on 2/3 January...suspect there were a sprinkling of photographers at the usual airports - but no 'result' for them, but the last quarter of the year was heaven for the right-wing newspapers. We were told the Bulgarians and Romanians would be almost jumping over each other to get to the UK*, but it didn't happen...and I suspect it will not

* 'UK' - aka 10 mile radius of London Victoria railway station

Bobounumpty...thanks for that - methinks the people that have gone elsewhere in Europe have been blinded by London - without seeing what the UK has to offer (and what they can offer to it) outside the M25.

They've only been in the EU for nine days. I think it is a little early to scoff about the lack of an influx. Give them a chance!

I hope that people will welcome talented, skilled and educated Bulgarians and Romanians to the country if and when they do get here, rather than moaning about how the foreign people are stealing all their jobs. Let's see the end of the Daily Mail mentality.

I think that Europe's presumed fear that Romanians and Bulgarians are out to flood the gates of Europe is offensive personally (being that my family is Romanian, I think I have a right to say that.)

I think that there are many Europeans who don't really know Romanians that well. As well, with the stigmata that Romania's economy is poor now such things don't get bridged so easily.

I want to suggest to you that Romania's entrance into the EU is however a very important thing for the country because it provides hope that has not existed for many years; it was stolen by Ceaucescu and by the oppression of the Communist dictatorship.

Where are all the Romanians now? They're working very hard to keep their end of the bargin to be an intergrated member of the EU, with it's rights, responsibilities and requirements.

I think that the UK media that produced this slanderous garbage should come take a good look at Romania and Bulgaria for it's wonderful culture and history and stop trying to make us all into gypsies and vagabonds.

I don't know much about the Romanians but I know for a fact that Bulgarians wouldn't feel comfortable with the culture or the weather in the UK. They have been going, and continue to do so, to Spain, which is more similar to their country so they feel more at home there. I think Romanians may be heading to France.
