I know there are pharmasist techs that refill the medicine and such, but what is the actual job of a pharmasist and why do they have to go to school for such a long time?

You have to learn what the thousands and thousands of medicines are for. Why people are prescribed them. And how they work

Part of the job is to control the flow of medicine so that the medicine is used in a manner intended by the manufacturer. Part of the job is to know all about the medicines that are out there so they can advise both patients and doctors about exactly what a particular drug will do inside the human body, and to know the chemical reactions that may occur, especially when the drug is mixed with other drugs. Part of the job is to tell patients how best to take a drug, what they should or should not do, or what they should or should not take when taking the medicine prescribed.

Count pills and put them in a bottle... They just have to go to so many years of school so they know what the medications they hand someone will do.
