It is a myth that it's all right to copy another person's work as long as you give credit. The copyright law provides no such exemption or defense. The author of article you would like to copy has every right to control where that article appears and to be paid for the article's use. You enjoy the same rights for your own work.

As a freelance writer and photographer, I would much rather concentrate on creating new works instead of chasing down thieves. After all, without copyright law, there would be little incentive for anybody to write or create works of art.

What do you think? Some of my friends don't even bother to credit. Website guys are doing the same by copying newspapers. You see the cycle goes on.

Most websites have information regarding their rules for republication...you should always check before copying and reprinting/publishing ANYTHING written by another.

IT IS OKAY TO COPY INFORMATION FROM ANOTHER SOURCE, AS LONG AS YOU STATE WHERE THE INFORMATION CAME FROM.YOU NEVER WANT TO CLAIM TO HAVE FIRST HAND INFORMATION THAT YOU DID NOT WITNESS YOURSELF.
