When I had my children I gave them baths after the cord fell off. I gave them baths before the cord fell off. So you can certainly give your child a bath. And remember ,have fun.

My doctor and the hospital warned to wait another 7-10 days after the cord falls off. The area is still sensitive to germs and bacteria which will be swimming in the water of a normal bath. They told me that sept. 2005, so fairly recent information. Good Luck!!

Yes but dont touch it because it will still be raw and it will form a scab over it which can take a few weeks to heal completely. Make sure the nappy / diaper isnt covering it either cause it needs to dry out. Just splash some water over it , it will clean itself.

I did with both my boys. When they are that small, though, I kept them "cradled" in the crook of my arm, so they were semi immersed, and I would take a clean, soft wash cloth and just gently wash and squeeze the water over their body. That way it's not like you're totally dunking them in water. And, please, in case it wasn't mentioned, wash the head! I hated it when my friends didn't wash their babies heads and they smelled! I always washed the head with warm soapy water, and my boys never got cradle cap and smelled so clean.

you can actually give a baby a bath while their cord is still on, you just have to be sure to dry and swab the area with alcohol...
