ok at my school basketball game their was this asian kid on the other team and he was really good, i mean good, and then the white kids started sain chinks and saying where is your numshucks and all that, i started to get mad and i started saying stuff to them and then some were like why are u getting mad it isnt like we are telling you to go back to africa.
do you think it was right for me to get mad?
i got mad because being a minority in this countrey made me realize that that could be me down there or hell that could even be a white person playin with and against all blacks.
what gets me is that they have a asian friend but he wasnt at the game, so they probably say stuff like that about black people behind my back. some friends huh!!!

This may have been more of a case of immaturity and poor sportsmanship rather than racism. But it could also be all of the three! We have been programmed/taught in this country to be extremely competitive. Thus when we are not winning our pride is hurt. When we are hurt we often lash out at others for our real or imagined shortcomings to defer our defeats. The simple way is to attack the obvious: race, fat, ugly etc etc. And yes, you should be angry. Good girl!

To be fair, when Jackie Chan says N*gger, A) he says it because he doesn't know better (he thinks it's just a way to greet people) and B) he does get attacked because of it. However, the Chris Tucker character does say a lot of stuff about Asians pretty freely in Rush Hour 2. Edit: I just saw "Live Free or Die Hard", and I have to agree with the questioner about those lines. What was the point in making racial remarks about her?

Yeah, I've heard of it...being a minority I get offended if I here racist slurs about blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Arabs, everyone of color...because I know what it feels like to be a victim of racism, we are all in the same boat, we've all experienced the racism, the oppression, the whites making us out to be inferior to them. If I heard people dissing a black kid, or an Asian kid or whatever, I'm going to come to their defense...because racism hurts, and I've felt it. So it's great that you have the courage to stick up for your fellow humans and tell those ignorant morons off!

you were right to stand up for what you believe in however
1. guys have a different relationship with each other, I've noticed. They're a lot more racial to each other, i have no clue why. I'm not saying it's good, I'm just stating what I've seen
2. racism in its truest form are when people REFUSE TO PLAY the game because someone from the other team is of a different race.

Listen Tina, You are right to feel the way that you do. At least you have achieved a level of human understanding that your so called friends have not.
What goes around comes around. One day they are going to be sitting in an interview with an Asian executive and will have to kiss but to get the job. what is wost is they will have a boss of a different race that will give them shitty jobs to make they Carma complete.

Mad? no....Angry? no...Getting emotional can cause you to lose your cool and say something you would regret.
However, it would be appropriate to approach the coach, or a teacher and explain to them you are dissapointed and embarassed by the behavior and rude comments made by the team. The players reprepresent your school, and they are reflecting badly on the entire student body. Let the teacher deal with it. The event could be what teachers call a "learning opportunity."
If you handle this in a mature way, you may set in motion a effort to make students more aware of the feelings of others and what is expected of them.
Good luck!

I commend you highly for standing up for that Asian player. Racism is racism, no matter to whom it's directed. I applaud you for your compassion.
Now, there are good and not-so-good ways to combat racism. Did you hurl insults at those white kids, or did you say something like, "Cut it out? Why are you being so racist? He's a good player! You wouldn't want someone calling you names, would you?"
You remind me of a famous quote about standing up, or not stand up, for another kind. It goes something like this:
First they [the Nazis] came for the communists. I did not speak up because I was not a communist.
Then they came for the Jews. I did not speak up because I was not a Jew.
...And then they came for me. By that time, there was no one left to speak up.
