You must wait til you baby is ready. Your actual "due date" is ONLY a "GUESS date". Don't force you body to do something it is not ready to do. Just because you put yourself in labor doesn't mean the rest of your body will follow....this can cause a lonnnngggg draw out labor and stress on the baby.....just be patient your baby will be here soon enough :-)
p.s. I was 2 wks late. Never dilated til I went into labor.

I tried EVERYTHNG!!
I even tried black cohash (indian herb?) to help put me into labor, go to hf store and buy it, you can read directions, they will say start slow 6 wks before you are due and gradually increase dose, I tried that, plus taking 6 at a time, still no baby, castor oil no baby.
Castor oil just causes diarreah, the bloating and gas from that is supposed to put you into labor.
I say walk around your home, do lots of housework.
SEX SEX SEX with help, sperm contain hormones to weaken the cervix and put you into labor.
If you can't get semen, then do it yourself, the push from the orgasm could help you go into labor.

Castor oil is dangerous! It's a laxative and it crosses the placenta and acts as a laxative on baby. This can cause baby to have a bowel movement in utero called meconium and can be very dangerous even life-threatening to baby. Please, don't use it again!
Things to put you in labor, walking, as you know.
Sex--semen contains prostoglandins which help ripen the cervix, have him ejaculate inside you and lay still for a bit afterwards.
Nipple stimulation--it releases oxytocin which causes contractions and dilates the cervix. Stimulate for 20 minutes, break for 10, and repeat for several hours until labor is established--a breast pump works wonders here!

I think you better stick to doctors orders. You not only have your health to worry about you have your babies health also. Walking and sex are the best but If the baby is not ready to come you will just subject yourself to more pain and possible strain on the baby. My sister-in-law tried both one time and she ended up having false labor pains for about two weeks. I really felt sorry for her.

Don't try to make baby come before s/he is ready. 40 weeks is an "average" pregnancy, your baby may be ready in more or less time. I know you are uncomfortable and ready to have the baby in your arms, but do you really want to risk your baby's health because of this?
I would go ahead and walk. If baby is ready this will help speed things up. If baby is not ready, then it will help get you in shape and ready for the delivery.

When I was 38 weeks pregnant with my son I asked the doctor to thin my membraines, and he did and sure enough. 9 hours later I went into labor and 3 hours of labor I had baby in hand!

Shouldnt you be in well being facility?? a million more effective cm and your in energetic labour, and the basically accurate 5cms can open very rapidly. I dont imagine you may walk a mile, cos in case you positioned your self into energetic labour you want to have the capacity to stroll that mile lower back!! carry out somewhat hassle-free issues at homestead, try bouncing round on a health center ball, or strolling stairs. sex does artwork, and can want to definetly carry issues on on account that your 4cms already.

Walk in and around the house, it will help thin you, mainly you need to relax and let nature take its course. I know it's hard but you don't have far to go hang in there. Congrats on your pending arrival.

congrats that you are near the end of your journey but I would not try to enduce labor at all. It could be risky. your baby will come when its supposed to. I know your probably tired of waiting but good things are worth waiting for, plus its not that much longer. good luck.
