y does the us ps2 games work for my ps2 from hk/china? Will it damage the system?

i didnt know it'll work for my ps2 since when i try a us xbox game on my xbox it didnt work... but i rented some ps2 games from Us and it worked for my ps2 which made me confused... will it damage the cd or the system??just to be sure....

Work, Maybe only way to know is to try...but no they won't damage it...either it'll playem or not...
