That's the year the mayan calender ends. It has been accurate about many things, but my friend and I think they just got lazy and figured they were not going to be around in 2012. Don't stress just do your best and if the world ends then oh well.

Human beings are... well who knows. But what I have found is that they like to report mainly negative events in their television news. Often lie about what they have done. some hold each other to ransome relating to material things. Manipulate each other emotionally. And are the only livings things, aside from ants, that form armies and go to war to for gain... of some kind, which generally they are, not up front about.
Proof: The changing weather, stock piles of devices that are only designed to destroy. Interest in things that cause harm. Unknowingly doing things that upset natural balance for quick gain. And a closed space program that would not even pick up the telephone when I rang them. The CIA who keep secrets. The millarty who black out reports about their activites. Now that's just here on the planet. In space the Solar Wind speed: 433.9km/s density: 0.4 protons/cm3. The question here is what will the Earth's magnetic field with stand?, as this figure changes!

Some scientists claim that 2012 will be the year in which fossil fuels have become so expensive (or so scarce) that the electric power grids will go offline permanently, resulting in permanent blackouts in many cities. The combination of urbanization, multiculturalism, and blackouts is a sure recipe for riots, looting and other violent crimes. When the lights go out, you're back in the Dark Ages, and the Stone Age is right around the corner.

I heard of that, too. I don't think that 2012 is the end of the world. There is proof, but i can't reveal it. To find out . . .

In 1500, they thought 1800 was end of world.
In 1800, they thought 2000 was end of world.
We are now in 2007.
My guess is, in the year 3000, Humans would still be asking the same question and would be speculating whether 3010 is end of world. It will go on.
I am not sure about the end of the world. But one thing is for sure. Things will certainly change. Diminishing Fish in ocean, global warming, wars, just to name a few. I am sure humans will adapt to whatever it is, and thats why i think.....humans might still be alive one, two or three thousands years from now for sure...but the changes (both physical and environmental) will be beyound our comprehension.
Natural causes are beyound our control. But we can control things that we contribute to. (Pollution, War, Deforestation, over fishing, intolerance etc). May be if we can control things that are in our hand, we can contribute to future survival of our planet.

Many cultures have predicted that Dec 2012 would be when the world ended. The link explains some of the beliefs surrounding 2012. I wouldnt worry about it though. You die when your time is up.
