you need those qualities in order to handle the cases that you deal with.

-maturity b/c most you deal with probly wont have any
-friendly b/c ppl will be more cooperative
-reliable b/c there are ppl dependant on you
-patient b/c there are ppl out there that dont have any and someone has to have patience
-sense of humor b/c you have to be able to see the lighter side of things and not take everything to heart
-independent worker...that should be self explainatory

Without those do you really think someone can be a good or even decent social worker? probably not
