Personally, I wouldn't tell them, because it will have an impact on their decision of hiring you. That's the truth and even though it's not "right" not to tell them, they won't hire if you did the tell the truth.

You are right in the fact that they cannot hold it against you for that would be discrimination. However, that isnt to say that they wont make a different excuse to avoid hiring you when they normally would have. I would go and have the interview, and if the question came up, then be truthful. If it doesnt, then you have not felt as though you left something out.
However, if the job requirements are such that it will be physically dangerous to carry out the duties while pregnant, then I feel you should be honest, and request another interview after the birth of your child. If the pregnancy will not interfere, then I dont see a problem. Pregnancy does not interfere with most jobs, it simply requires a short absence after birth.
Good luck to you and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I wouldn't tell them if I were you. It's just like any other health condition, it's a matter of privacy for you. I have a medical situation that requires me to take medication. The ONLY reason I ever told anyone about it was just in case they needed a drug test just so they know that i'm not useing recriational drugs.
I say, if you really want the job, don't bring it up. Just wait and tell them shortly after you get hired on and all the paperwork is done.
I know it sounds bad, but believe me, if they don't want a pregnant woman working for them, they'll FIND a reason not to hire you other than your pregnancy just so they're going by what's expected of them by law.
There's alot of people out there who discriminate but go about it with other excuses.
Good luck getting your job and also with becoming a Mommy!!!!

That's a tricky question because, if you don't tell them, they may take that as a lie. But if I were you I wouldn't tell them and just show up in maternity clothes. Whatever the job is you are going to need the money if you have a baby on the way, and if they ask you why you didn't just tell them...say it is because you have a baby on the way and will need the money. You can't take a chance on whether or not you'll have a safe place for the child to come to. Good Luck.

I would probably not tell them. It might give them a reason to not hire you. Even it's against the law to not hire you, they may just say that you didn't meet the criteria. So there wouldn't be anything that you could do. The best thing to do, is not tell them and then once you're in good with them at work then tell them.

Well I do understand your feelings. The best policy is honesty though. If you lie and they find out somehow it goes against your credibility. I do understand how you feel but these days people are more understanding to pregnant women. I would come more not hiring a dishonest person. Think about how it's going to leave them short when you have to go on maturnity leave so quick. If you don't tell them you have to deal with the guilt yourself. You know what you can live with and what you can't.

Well by law I think you have to tell them , they are going to find out you were pregnant before you got hired and they are going to consider you as dishonest.

The person hiring you has a right to know you are pregnant because if something were to happen to you at work they can be sued.

Yes it is illegal for them not to hire you on that basis. My best suggestion is if you are offered the job, soon after that explain that you just found out that you are expecting and would like to know what the maternity leave situation is. Explain though that you really want this job and look forward to working with them and apperciate any situation they can give you to work with yours. If they fire you after that then its time for some legal action. Congrads!

It depends on what kind of a job. If it's a low-key, unimportant job, don't tell them. If it's a big job at a decent-sized company, and you are anticipating the need for maternity leave, you might as well spill the beans. Otherwise, it could reflect bad on you later.

But if it's something petty, and you aren't going to be in a key position, don't bother. I told someone once at a factory outlet store and she said, "Have fun with the baby. I already have a pregnant woman on my staff, and I can't deal with both of you needing time off if something happens."

Yes you should tell them. I work in Human Resources and it will be better for you if you tell them right away. Also if you have to take a drug test they will be able to tell that you are pregnant. Make sure you tell them that you are planning to take maternity leave of however long, but you would like to know what their policy and procedures are for that. Good luck with the interview.
