One of the side effects of Elavil is photosensitivity reaction. Your skin may break out in a rash if exposed to too much light. You should wear sunscreen while on that medication, and avoid tanning (by both beds and natural sunlight)

I got a photosensitivity reaction to doxycycline, which I was taking to treat Lyme disease, in 2003. I forgot to cover my arms while I was driving, and sunlight hit the tops of my arms through the windshield. My skin looked horrible for weeks, and is still not right in that area.

Don't ignore the warning.

A side effect of Elavil is photosensitivity, which means your body becomes more sensitive to sunlight when on this medication. Your skin is more at risk of burning when on this medication.
