There is nothing negative about being single. There are some individuals that feel to be complete, they must have a mate. Be a partner of someone. Not true, Being single allows you to take the necessary time to get to know yourself and to be clear about what type person you might want to partner with. Going to the movies and eating out alone is normal, Enjoy your single life. Eat what you want. See plays, movies. Curl up with you New York Times Best Seller. Listen to that CD that you play over and over again. Start a new project.
And about settling? Never Never settle. You deserve the best in life. Wait for it,

Well, let's put in this words: prejudice.
If you are free, handsome, young and besides clever enough as to run out of danger, then you are too much for most of the people that stays married because of a habit or convenience.
Sure, even though if we were born alone, we are supposed to run searching for a partner in the same way the salmons are swimming against the current. I understand you, and I agree that being alone is from far better than remaining involved in a broken relationship.
Like everything in life, being single is a choice and therefore its price is to be socially suspicious.

The reason that people frown on being single is because they mistakenly read it as a subconscious message saying "I am a loner. I am not good enough for anyone." OR the reverse "I am too good for any of the people that have shown an interest".
These are very shallow, thoughtless assumptions, and I agree that life does go on, even if you aren't attatched, and you certainly shouldn't stop enjoying life and drown in self pitty. After all, how would you EVER meet anyone with that attitude!!
I have had friends who time after time define themselves by their mate. When their relationship is good, they have high confidence. When their relationship is on the rocks, the opposite is true. When they are single, they see themselves as unwanted. I try to tell them that its OK to be single. You definately don't want to waste your life with someone that you don't feel great with, just for the sake of having "definition" in your life.

It's because they think there's something "wrong" with you if you're single a long time.
They think of it as wrong because, if you're single, it means you're "alone" and man wasn't made to be alone (that's where they get the idea of it as being "wrong").
My son is still single at age 30, not settling for just anybody. Nothing wrong with that.
It's just using your head and not getting into bad relationship after bad relationship, because of just settling for whatever comes your way.
Keep using your good sense about it, and keep smiling!
And, tell those who frown about it that you're smiling because you're happy!
What matters most is YOUR happiness, not theirs.
If they want to wear a frown and continue to be miserable, they can, but don't you let their misery make you miserable, ok?

They miss the single life, they feel there is no responsibility in being single, and envy the freedom.
I'll never get married. Came close 4 times in my life and hope not to get that close again. Unless an out-of-this-world Queen of my Dreams comes along, I'm content in my bachelorhood.

I think you should do what you like as long as you're happy. Never settle for less than you want or deserve. And I wouuldn't think that people would frown upon being single, but i don't know.

people thank that you have to have someone to be happy in this world but you dont...cause if people dont respect the goodness that you have and treat you bad why should you even be with them? its not worth it...plus if you are dating someone you cant flirt or talk to anyone else that might be out there...your tied down to something you dont want to be tied too...
i agree 100% with you ...being single is fun and you should enjoy it while you can cause you never know when you are going to get hooked again...

Lets clear something up first If you aren't married , you are single. Even when you are in a "relationship" you are single until you marry. If you haven't been married yet, then you have been single all your life so nothing has really changed, you just don't have a girlfriend at the moment

It's just one more think to prove how screwed up our society has become. Some employers view being single a sign of "instability."
