On most applications, it will tell you that if your ancestry is from north Africa or Middle East to fill in Caucasian or white as your "race". But Arabs are all of mixed ancestry. While some Arabs do look white because of intermingling with Europeans, most Arabs have more African ancestry. A lot of Arabs have brown skin, dark eyes, and dark hair. I'm of Arab descent, and I don't think anyone could ever think I'm white. The one time I followed application guidelines, a so-called friend from school (who is white) told me, "Why did you put white? You're not white, the only place you have white is in your eyes."

I don't wish I was white or anything, but I just don't know what to put on those stupid applications. It's obvious Arabs are a mix of "races", black, white, and even Asian. It's why people need to do away with these racial categories, because most people have mixed ethnic ancestry, esp Arabs because of their location between white Europe and black Africa.

yea i mean it is apparent u guys have more african ancestry than white, i mean if i had to choose between the too, it would be black, like u said dark hair, dark eyes, and dark skin, shows that there is some african ancestry, im black and i have seen a lot of arabs darker than me. i think u guys should have ur own racial category, i think the middle east should be its own continent too, i mean whenever i ask is it part of asia or europe i hear people say europe or i hear them say asia, so what continent is the middle east part of.
they need to stop calling yall caucasians, cuz u know what the klan or any other white supremacy group wouldnt consider u as part of their race.

I even must trust Karthick because the purely Arabs that are White are those Levantine Arabs who would nicely be of Graco-Roman historic past if i'm not incorrect. Arab isn't a race they are Afro-Arabs to boot too. some Arabs can look Indian/Pakistani by immigration. also the unique Arabs are from Arabia. Caucasian do not propose White so do not rigidity your self out. also the actual Aryans are Brown, with black hair, & darkish brown eyes. not those ecu bastards they are Celtics and performance stolen the note Caucasian that's btw originated from Caucasus some element like that mountain from Syria. Europeans are a danger who stole Caucasian race.

Did you ask your so-called friend what their recommendation was? Honestly, if you're Arab, you can't mark the "African-American" box, and the last time I had to fill out one of those forms, I certainly don't recall seeing a "Arab/Middle-Eastern" box to mark.
This is a very interesting post - I hadn't thought about it before. Perhaps there are only boxes for those groups who have fought for better representation. I might suggest starting a campaign, but with things the way they are (politically) here, I don't know that you'd get very far.

I don't know why. At my school & in my town all of the African Arabs consider themselves African American and live their lives as African Americans especially with the rest of the African kids. In the US you have a right to choose your race & if you aren't sure, just check "other".

anyway, they told you to check white, so check it. I know some Italians that are darker than some of my cousins, i kid you not, it's crazy. pretty soon everything will be so confused there will either be a huge vicious uprising or everyone will just do away with the dumb boxes

arabs are not white gosh!! in every race like blacks white ppl took over them and gave them a bunch of babies. look sweetie arabs are just ignore in america. look ar the application when they say other: even asians and indians are ignore in america ppl always think of black or white ppl im sorry to burst ur bubbles but in every race ppl have white ancestry because of all the trading,migrating,slavery and wat not white ppl would not accept arabs as whites so why are u tryna say ur white to make ur self sound good
