pick one of the hostels or backpackers! they are fun to stay at because many international travelers stay there and they are cheap with all the info you need to get. try the international YHA
or the private one. check out the website

I would recomend to visit the official web of the city of Cologne. There you can find a lot of information and also a complete list of all hotels, hostels etc. there, you can see and book under "HRS" acomodations under special price. Here is the web site adreess:

we stayed in a youth hostel when we went on a school trip.
i don't know of any others, sorry.
have a nice holiday if thats why your going, the cologne chocolate factory is amazing!!

Stayed in a youth hostel there a few years back(and we are not youths).Goggle YHA.
