The "fart" was a string of gas bubbles being produced from the anus. I know it sounds weird and highly uncommon but it did happen.

Check the ammonia levels in the tank. And make sure you have an airstone or something to add more oxgen in the water.

lower the temperature, as ammonia levels are less toxic when the water is cold. Also, put in an airstone to further oxygenate the water.

How big is the tank he is in? How often are you changing the water? Do you have any filters on the tank? How big is the fish?

is there enough air in the tank???? are the chemical levels ok??
i wouldnt try changing the water.. doing a 20% water change might stress him out... might need more air in the tank...

Ok......

Do a 50% water change....add de-chlorinated water to refill tank

Add an air stone

Add meds just to be safe!
