The math is just 10 minutes - 1min25sec so there's 8min35sec left. Divide 8min35sec by the 9 remaining laps and the goal per lap becomes 57sec.

Lap 1 = 1 minute 25 seconds. This leaves 8 minutes and 35 seconds to complete the remaining 9 laps. 8 minutes and 35 seconds is equal to 515 seconds. Divide 515 seconds by 9 laps so the driver would need to maintain 57 seconds per lap to finish all 10 laps in less than 10 minutes.
