Inglewood has lots of well to do african americans, but it is still in close proximity to problem neighborhoods.
Still it's pretty safe once you hit your block.

Uhmmmm, where have you read this? You can read just about anything negative if you look for it. I live in Houston and love it. I don't live in the best part of town (I'm on the East side), but it isn't really all that dangerous. My major recommendation is to stay in a gated neighborhood. You'll be able to find nice middle class neighborhoods just about everywhere. I'd suggest that you find something near your work because the commute is no fun (I'm sure you know since you're coming from LA).

The west side of town is the nicest (Cypress especially), but very pricey and traffic is awful. Montrose is nice and very artsy. It is also a pretty decent location for getting to places. There are hit and miss spots on the South near the medical area.

You should research an area yourself. Never rely on what you read alone. Remember its just someone else's opinion. I suggest you take a trip up and have a look for yourself! Swee how the job market, etc. is. God Bless You!

That is a hilarious question. I find it amazing that people in this day and age live in such cocoons. Nah, just stay in your compound and watch tv!
