It depends on your skills.
For example, I'm a paralegal (I have three kids) and I did some projects at home for people I knew - like document review, responses to document production, analysis of medical documents etc.
A friend of mine took someone's kid in addition to her own to babysit.
You can tutor once a day for an hour or two (when kids are asleep)and get $50-100. Or may be you play some musical instrument, so you can give music classes.
May be you can get licensed to be notary public; it's not a lot of money but if people know you, and you're always available, you can try to generate business.
I don't know anything about telemarketing (I cannot do it and I would hate doing it) but you can check out this option too.

Again as I said, I don't know what your skills are; what you can or cannot do. But these are just few suggestions. Ask people around if they need help with something - watching a pet while they are on vacation, helping a kid, doing groceries, type papers, write papers. You can take some simple class at community college (like - candle making, ikebana, knitting, clothes alterations etc) and then that's also something you can do at home and may be sell some of the stuff on e-bay.

Good luck.

You can earn income from home legitimately several ways. You can be an affiliate of any number of companies, and earn a profit from those who buy the product from you. I have several of these companies on my website.

The other way to earn money is to actually work the programs. Some companies will require a small fee for start up costs, this is generally around $50. There are some such as SFI that you can join for free, they have over 600 products to sell and promote both online and offline.

Like any business you look into these all require time and effort to make money. I have been doing it for over 2 years now and do make a steady income from both SFI and the other programs listed on my site.

If you want more information you can go to my website look over the offers, then you can contact me or sign up for my newsletter for more information..

First let me congratulate you on an excellent decision to stay home with your kids, you will certainly not regret it. There are a number of ways you can make money from home but in general I would stay away from multi-level marketing systems or other group businesses, rather choose something of your own like:
1. Freelancing online (Elance.com, Guru.com, FreelanceWorkExchange.com) or offline (advertise in your local paper or community noticeboard)
2. Take on other children to look after while their mothers are working
3. Start your own craft business and sell what you create online or at local markets or shops.
4. Get your own website or blog and use affiliate marketing (Clickbank.com, Amazon.com), contextual advertising (Adsense being the most popular) and infomarketing (selling ebooks with resell rights) to make money.
5. What did you train as or what work did you do before? Is there some way of doing it from home?
6. Virtual Assistant or Home based secretary
7. Offer tuition to students/scholars or consultation services
8. Are you good at writing? Ever considered being a freelance writer or ghostwriter? Once again Elance.com is a good website for getting writing positions.

There are probably also dozens of other opportunities out there. I am a freelance writer specializing in home based business and internet marketing so if you need any advice email me at mandyjoybuchanan@gmail.com.

I too have a home business that is inexpensive to start (under $200 USD) and comes with all the training and mentoring as well as a free website. If you know anyone who is having any kind of health issues, this is definately the business to be in.
It's something you can do face to face, work leads on the telephone or work on the internet. In my case, I do all of the above and my business grows every day.
I would love to tell you more about it.

Hi,

I see there are already a lot of great answers to your question.

One good tip, is that you do not have to be the best at anything. There are people who will pay you just for doing everyday stuff that they are too busy to do themselves.

For free home business ideas, visit the website below. You do not have to register nor buy anything. All the ideas are right there on the website, and most are easy for anyone to do and without startup capital. Its a free public service.
