I am getting a lot of heat from a family member over this and I just want to see what everyone's opinion on this is.

a lot of it would depend on how often you listen to your music....

if someone has 50 cds, and half of them were only listened to once, then half that collection is gathering dust. so for that person, 50 cds is too much.

but if someone else had 3000 cds, and all they do is listen to music, and they listen to all those cds regularly, then 3000 is perfect for that person.

i think that too much, is when you have enough that there are cds that you know you will never listen to, but you have them anyways.

There's no real way to tell. It varies from person to person. Plus, cds are kind of on the way out at this point. SO many people are downloading these days & buying less cds.

I'd just do a poll here asking responses to give #s of cds they have & hope more than 20 people reply. Then I'd just get an average....

My husband is what I call an "Audio Snob". He has not only about 500 CDs, but also about 200 vinyl albums, and several hundred DVDs. He has to have the best equipment to play his collection on too.

You can never have enough. My CD collection is in the thousands and my DVD collection over 1,500.

These days? I only have the CDs I burn and the rest of my music is on MP3; back before I got my burner I had about 120 though.

i couldn't possibly comment....the 'Rents go on and on about the fact i have SO MANY dvds and CDS! gar get over it!

as long as your collection includes all the artists you love i really don't think you can put a limit on it!!!

currently have about 350 albums....still room for improvement!

i dont think there is such thing as too many cds. it all depends on the person with the cds and no ones opinion should really matter to them. as long as your happy with your cds then its all good.

I think over 300 hours worth of music is too much. A person just is just going to stop listening to some of the stuff and move on.
