William Petersen, who plays Grissom, will miss only a couple of new episodes overall. He took a break to appear in the play Dublin Carol at the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, R.I.

``It's great that (CSI)''d let me do it, that a lead actor would be allowed to leave in the middle of the season to do other work,'' he told the Boston Globe. ``I think they know how much the theater means to me. If you can't revive yourself and take some risks, then you get too stale.''

CSI, meanwhile, brought in Liev Schreiber as Michael Keppler, an investigator new to Vegas, for episodes scheduled on Jan. 18 and 25. CBS has a rerun, with Grissom, planned for this Thursday.

Gil Grishom from CSI said that he would be back in 3 weeks. I don't know if he is leaving the show or not, but that was the conversation he had before exiting the show last week. Thank you.

I believe he'll be gone for around 4 episodes. William Peterson is taking time off to be in a play and he will return, thank God.If they write him out permanently, I will no longer watch.
