If you don't know a thing about cars as you've stated, then don't do this alone. If you have someone that has some mechanical ability, then the below link will walk you through the job step by step and includes photos for reference.

OK Kingkong, I have done my car repair from age 15 now 47. Brakes are not difficult, yet, their job requires you to do the repair correctly. You may need to do more than replace the pads and shoes. Be prepared or try a local community collage, they may have an automotive department. They learn on your brakes but, an instructor checks the work and may charge only nominal fee. If you have no other choice then get a manual and read read read. Get the proper tools and do one side at a time. Take pictures before you disassemble. Take your time and good luck

There are no links for someone with NO experience. I don't suppose you have a nice tool box full of tools either. I don't know where you live but there are schools and colleges that have auto repair classes that will sometimes take your car and repair it for the cost of parts.

If you have never done brake work before, now is not the time to start. Take it to a professional, or at least e-mail me daily with your intended route so I can stay out of your way.

Seriously, this is not a place to try to skimp and save money.
